Why people stop wanting to talk to you, four Bible stories of people who would not listen, and what happens when God is the one trying to communicate with you
“Have you ever wondered why certain people suddenly stop wanting to talk to you?”
Or maybe you’ve been the one who decided you no longer want to engage with certain people. Either way, someone has chosen to end the communication. Why does that happen?
Unsubscribe
Have you ever unsubscribed yourself from someone’s mailing list? “This is Alexis, your online assistant from Special Oils, Inc., with a special offer for this month. Type ‘Yes’ for more or ‘Stop’ to unsubscribe.” Ping on your phone. Ping on your phone. Offer of this, offer of that, the newsletter, the newsletter. Of course you are tired of that. So what do you do? You unsubscribe yourself.
“You know, everyone loves to have his own space. Nobody likes to feel invaded by others.”
Let’s evaluate both positions today. Option A, you as the one receiving communication. Option B, you as the person trying to communicate.
A: “Leave me alone”
When you are the one receiving it, what do you say? Too much. Leave me alone. Stop texting me. Don’t you get it? I’m not responding to your text because I don’t care.
“You basically are saying, are saying, ‘Please unsubscribe me.’”
B: “I just want to have a relationship with you”
But what if you are the person trying to communicate with others? Well, what you say is:
“I just want to have a relationship with you.”
I would like us to do things together. I want to know how are you doing, what are you doing, because I care about you. I want to help you in any way. I love you. That is your desire.
Probably the worst part is for the one receiving the communication. If you are the one sending the letters, the emails, the text messages, making the phone calls, you eventually understand: they just don’t want to have anything to do with me. And although it hurts, you accept it.
For the one receiving it, it’s an aggravation. And these are the things they are thinking about you: I barely tolerate you. You are boring. You’re not funny. You’re not interesting. You’re not my type. Some even say:
“You are too clean. You are too well behaved. You are too respectful. You are too positive. You are too happy. You are too good. I don’t like you.”
Basically they are saying, “Stop talking to me.”
Four Bible stories
“Let me share with you four Bible stories that are just like the case we have analyzed.”
Adam. The first case is in Genesis chapter 3. The Lord God asks: “Adam, where are you?” There is no answer. Adam had a garden, a woman, food, a job, everything he needed, and yet he disobeyed. It was a test, and he failed. Whose fault was it? Eve’s, the serpent’s, Adam’s? Still, the question is the same.
“Adam,” says the Lord, “where are you?”
One person has done something not right and now is hiding, ignoring the phone calls from the Lord, the emails from the Lord, the FaceTime from the Lord. People who are hiding think they don’t need to answer to their grandpa, their uncle, their pastor, their friend.
“But eventually, like Adam, you will be confronted face to face with the Lord God.”
“Maybe that is what every person that is hiding needs to do today, to come clean.”
Cain. Just one chapter ahead, Genesis chapter 4. The question the Lord asked him was, “What have you done?” He became a murderer out of envy, jealousy, dissatisfaction, frustration, anger, and killed his own brother. Can you imagine how the Lord felt?
“Sometimes people make terrible mistakes, and there are consequences that will last for the rest of their lives.”
The Lord is going to ask you the same question, my friend: what have you done? Why are you hiding?
Noah. The third story is even more dramatic, because it was not a question. The Lord was rewarding Noah and his family for the good things he had done. Society was horrible. People were doing bad things, evil things, perverse things. Noah built an ark, and nobody really wanted to get closer to the Lord. Nobody even considered, “Well, maybe he’s right.”
“Somehow, it’s like, in our case, broadcasting, preaching, teaching, sharing, reaching out. And so many people don’t even try to find out what is what we are saying.”
Eli. The fourth story is in the first book of Samuel, chapters 1 through 4. Hannah was begging God for a miracle, because she couldn’t have children. If you are a parent longing for a child, here is a great story for you.
“If you search God with all of your heart, he can do miracles in your life, my friend.”
But there was a bad guy there, Eli, the leader of the religious group of the time. His sons were even worse. So the Lord said, “You guys are fired.” That is how Samuel took over. Some people think they can continue doing what is wrong and get away with it. Dictators thought they would be there forever. No.
“Sooner or later, godly people will take over.”
What if God is the one trying to communicate with you?
Why do some people simply not want to hear the voice of God?
“Well, the Lord God knew that His creation was a disaster. So He said to Himself, ‘I’m going to bring a solution for them. They need a Savior, my Son Jesus, but they need to believe in Him to be saved.’”
The Gospel of John chapter 1 verse 12 declares that those who receive Him, those who believe in His name, have the right to become children of God.
So let’s come back to the two positions. What if it’s God, the person trying to communicate with you? Look at this. This is what the Lord says:
“I just want to have a relationship with you.”
I would like us to do things together. I want to know how you are doing, what you are doing, because I care about you. I want to help you in any way, because I love you.
“The same ideas that people have to communicate and connect with those that they love. That’s exactly what the Lord feels about His creation.”
That is why we broadcast constantly, a radio station and a TV station running 24/7: to let people know how much the Lord loves them.
The way you treat God
“You know, my friend, you treat God the way you treat people.”
There are people around you trying to connect with you, to hang out with you, to be friends with you, and you push them away and think you are winning. You have the right to not like being with certain people.
“But the first thing is, you will make a terrible mistake if you are just trying to push away the Lord God.”
And even if you don’t like certain preachers or certain music, have you ever thought that maybe other people do like them? Some who claim to be Christians are so mean, criticizing and putting down certain people. I have my favorites, my mentors. But if I don’t appreciate certain preachers because of their content or style:
“I’m going to respect them, regardless.”
Even a company sending me text messages and newsletters: I will not insult them. They are looking for business.
“Remember this, the way you treat God is the way you treat people and vice versa.”
That is why I invite you today to open your heart and let the power of the Holy Spirit come inside of you to change you. Say:
“Lord God, I do want to be part of your family in the name of Jesus.”
A little humor
One day someone told me, “Dr. Gian, you are on TV like the TV news people.” Well, not exactly. But tell me, what do you get if you cross a sports reporter with a vegetable? A common tater.
And I once knew an arrogant sponge. He was very self-absorbed.

Questions this message answers
Questions & answers.
Why do people suddenly stop wanting to talk to you?
Someone has unilaterally chosen to end the communication. For the one receiving it, it feels like "too much": "Leave me alone. Stop texting me." Some even think: "You are too good. I don't like you." Basically they are saying, "Please unsubscribe me."
What does the person trying to communicate really want?
"I just want to have a relationship with you." "I would like us to do things together." "I want to know how are you doing. What are you doing? Because I care about you." "I want to help you in any way. I love you." And those are exactly the things the Lord says to you.
What do Adam, Cain, Noah's generation and Eli have in common?
Four Bible stories of people who would not listen. Adam disobeyed and hid ("Adam, where are you?"), Cain killed his brother ("What have you done?"), the people of Noah's time refused to get closer to the Lord, and Eli and his sons were replaced by Samuel. "Eventually, like Adam, you will be confronted face to face with the Lord God."
What if God is the one trying to communicate with you?
The Lord knew His creation was a disaster, so He brought a solution: "They need a Savior, my Son Jesus, but they need to believe in Him to be saved." John 1:12: those who receive Him, those who believe in His name, have the right to become children of God. "You will make a terrible mistake if you are just trying to push away the Lord God."
Does the way I treat people affect my relationship with God?
Yes. "The way you treat God is the way you treat people and vice versa." You may not like certain preachers, music or companies, but respect them anyway, without insults. Open your heart and say, "Lord God, I do want to be part of your family in the name of Jesus."

00:13Why do people stop talking to you?
Have you ever wondered why certain people suddenly stop wanting to talk to you? Or maybe you've been the one who decided you no longer want to engage with certain people. Either way, the reality is that someone has unilaterally chosen to end the communication. Why does that happen? Let me share a few thoughts about it with you.
01:27Unsubscribing from a mailing list
Have you ever unsubscribed yourself from someone's mailing list? This is Alexis, your online assistant from Special Oils, Inc., with a special offer for this month. Type "Yes" for more or "Stop" to unsubscribe. "PING" on your phone. "PING" on your phone. "PING" on your phone. Even in the mail. Offer of this, offer of that, offer of this, buy this, buy that, the newsletter, the newsletter. And what can I tell you? Your inbox and your email is just packed with all type of advertisement. Of course you are tired of that. Simply, it is way too much. So what do you do? You unsubscribe yourself.
02:24Nobody likes to feel invaded
You know, everyone loves to have his own space. Nobody likes to feel invaded by others.
02:32Two positions, A and B
Let's evaluate both positions today. One, option A, you as the one receiving communication. And option B, you as the person trying to communicate.
02:47A: "Too much. Leave me alone."
Let's start with the first option. What is what you say? Too much. Leave me alone. Stop texting me. Don't you get it? I'm not responding to your text because I don't care. Correct? You basically are saying, are saying, "Please unsubscribe me."
03:14B: "I just want to have a relationship with you"
Now remember, we are evaluating both positions. You are the one receiving communication, felt the way that I explained to you. But what if you are the person trying to communicate with others? Well, what you say is, "I just want to have a relationship with you." I would like us to do things together. I want to know how are you doing. What are you doing? Because I care about you. I want to help you in any way. I love you.
03:52The worst part
That is your desire. Probably the worst part is for the one receiving the communication. Because if you are the one sending letters in the mail, emails, text messages, making the phone calls, you eventually understand, "Well, they just don't want to have anything to do with me." And although it hurts, you say, "Well, I have to accept it." But for the one receiving the communication, it's more complicated because, they just say, "There's just too much."
04:30Build Your World and Build Your Future
Precisely for that reason, I want to invite you in either one of the two positions to consider these messages that I see, that you see here on the screen. The first one, it's about building your world. And the second is about building your future. I encourage you to watch both of those messages in that order. Because it's a practical message, it's a practical teaching that will help you to understand better, how can you operate now?
05:04Thank you, faithful givers
Precisely for that reason is that I thank you if you are one of our faithful givers to the ministry. I appreciate that. But I was telling you about the fact that for the one that is receiving the communication, it's really an aggravation.
05:22What they are thinking about you
And these are the things that they are thinking about you. I barely tolerate you. You are boring. You're not funny. You're not interesting. You're not my type.
05:45"You are too good. I don't like you."
Some of them even they say, "You are too old." Or maybe they say, "You are too young. You are too churchy. You are too white. You are too clean. You are too well behaved. You are too respectful. You are too positive. You are too happy. You are too good. I don't like you." Some of them even say, "You don't like bad things. You don't like to waste your time. You are not lazy. You don't like to trash people. You don't like to criticize the rest."
06:22"Stop talking to me"
You see? Basically they are saying, "Stop talking to me." What a situation, don't you think?
06:31Four Bible stories
Let me share with you four Bible stories that are just like the case we have analyzed. Ready for this?
06:401. "Adam, where are you?" (Genesis 3)
The first case is in Genesis chapter 3. It's the Lord God asking Adam, "Adam, where are you? Where are you?" There is no answer. Where is Adam?
07:01He had everything he needed
Well, there was a garden. There was a woman for him. He had food. He had everything he needed. He got a job. Well, he had everything possibly wanted, and yet he disobeyed. The Lord said, "You are to eat anything here except from this particular fruit." It was a test, and he failed.
07:35Whose fault was it?
Of course, people say, "You know what? That was Eve's fault." Well, to a certain degree, it's true. Other people might say, "Well, it was the serpent's fault. It was tricky." To a certain degree, it's true. Some other people say, "No, ultimately it was Adam's fault because it was his job. He went to work. Too many hours outside, the woman was there doing nothing, and then she began to hear the voice of the enemy, and then that was the beginning of the big mess.
08:17Hiding from the Lord
Still, the question is the same. "Adam," says the Lord, "where are you?" You see, in this first story that I'm presenting to you, is that situation, that there is one person who has done something not right and now is hiding. The best way to handle the situation in his eyes was to hide, to ignore the phone calls from the Lord, the emails from the Lord, the telegrams from the Lord, the FaceTime from the Lord. "Adam thought, I can't hide here forever." That's the problem with people that are hiding. They think, "I can hide forever.
09:07"I can hide forever"
I don't need to answer to my grandpa. I don't need to answer to my uncle. I don't need to answer to my pastor. I don't need to answer to my friend. I don't need to. I don't need to. I don't have to. I can't hide."
09:21Face to face with the Lord God
To a certain degree, you could, but eventually, like Adam, you will be confronted face to face with the Lord God. "Where are you? What happened? What did I do to you, Adam? In what way did I offend you?"
09:45Come clean
And Adam needed to come clean. Maybe that is what every person that is hiding needs to do today, to come clean.
09:562. Cain: "What have you done?" (Genesis 4)
Let me go to the second Bible story. It's just one chapter ahead. Chapter four, Book of Genesis. That's the case of Cain. The question the Lord asked him was, "What have you done?" He became a murderer out of envy, jealousy, dissatisfaction, frustration, anger, you name it. As a result of that killing his own brother. Well, let me tell you, that's quite a story.
10:38How the Lord felt
Can you imagine how the Lord felt? He just created Adam and Eve. And those two failed, so kicked out from the Garden of Eden. So now they have kids. And now the next generation, one kills the other. Well, that's a problem. That's a problem, you see.
11:04Consequences for the rest of their lives
So Cain had a mark on his forehead. Have you ever thought about when everybody asked him, "Hey, mister, why do you have that mark in your forehead?" Not good. Not good. Sometimes people make terrible mistakes, and there are consequences that will last for the rest of their lives.
11:31Walking Like Enoch
Have you ever thought about what happened with Cain's descendants in his future, actually? It's a beautiful message that you need to consider one day to watch, walking like Enoch, because Enoch actually was descendant of Cain.
11:51The same question for you
Again, what have you done? The Lord is going to go and ask you, my friend, the same question, what have you done? Why are you hiding? It's a problem.
12:093. Noah builds the ark
The third story is even more dramatic, and it is more dramatic for the simple reason that in this case it was not a question. With Noah, the situation was not asking him what he has done, but to rewarding Noah and his family for the good things he had done. So he will become the savior of humanity in such a way. He will preserve lives. The Lord said, "Noah, you are going to build an ark." Genesis chapter 7, 8, 9, all this area, you can review it. What was happening there?
12:59Society was horrible
Society was horrible. People were doing bad things, evil things, perverse things. The Lord just couldn't stand it anymore. He says, "I'm going to wipe them out. I just can't stand my creation, but I'm going to give them an option later." But for now, Noah built an ark.
13:26Nobody wanted to get closer
All these people refused. For a hundred years, Noah was building the ark. Nobody really wanted to get closer to the Lord. They heard the stories. They knew about Noah's job. Nobody even considered the possibility, "Well, maybe he's right."
13:47Like our broadcasting today
Somehow, it's like, in our case, broadcasting, preaching, teaching, sharing, reaching out. And so many people don't even try to find out what is what we are saying.
14:034. Hannah, Eli and Samuel (1 Samuel 1-4)
And the fourth story comes in the shape of individuals connected because of a woman. This woman, if you read the first book of Samuel, chapter 1 through 4, this woman was begging God for a miracle. She couldn't have children. That's why if you are a parent longing for a child, here is a great story for you. If you search God with all of your heart, he can do miracles in your life, my friend. Read those chapters so you will understand what I am talking about.
14:43Making deals with the Lord
So here's Hannah praying. It made a deal with the Lord. Making deals with the Lord is a great idea if you are willing to do what you are promising.
14:55"You guys are fired"
The thing is, there is a bad guy there, Eli. He was the leader of the religious group of the time. He was horrible. His sons were even worse. So the Lord said, "You guys are fired." That is how Samuel took over.
15:17Nobody gets away with it forever
Some people think that they can continue doing what is wrong, that there is no problem, that they will get away with whatever they want. That, my friend, never happens for a season.
15:29They thought they would be there forever
Even presidents of countries, dictators. I like to tell you again that Hitler thought that he will win. That he will say that every single one of those, I can tell you about the communist Fidel Castro and his clan. They thought we will be here forever. No. And what is happening in Russia for example in North Korea, even China, they think Iran, all those nations that are ungodly people. They think they will stay there forever. Mm-mm.
16:10Sooner or later
Sooner or later, godly people will take over. In our case, as believers, we know the future, the destination is not on this planet.
16:22Why some people unsubscribe from God
But what we are talking today is about why is it that some people simply do not want to hear the voice of God? Why some people simply want to unsubscribe even from godly people?
16:37They need a Savior: John 1:12
Well, the Lord God knew that His creation was a disaster. So He said to Himself, "I'm going to bring a solution for them. They need a Savior, my Son Jesus, but they need to believe in Him to be saved." The Gospel of John chapter 1 verse 12 declares that. But those who receive Him, those who believe in His name, they have the right to become children of God.
17:07Back to the two positions
So let's come back to the point that we were discussing from the beginning. There are two possibilities in this scenario of some people that do not want to talk and some others that are longing to talk to. So we discuss case number one. The first case, you are the one receiving communication. We talk about it.
17:31What if God is the one trying to communicate with you?
But what about this possibility? What if it's God, the person trying to communicate with you?
17:37Thank you, my son
I'm going to bring to you the slides that we created. And thank you so much for this phenomenal work you are doing with the addition of our messages here. Good for you, my son. Good for you. Excellent job. So let's bring these slides again. Look at this. It's so interesting.
18:00"I just want to have a relationship with you"
This is what the Lord says. I just want to have a relationship with you. I would like us to do things together, the Lord says. I want to know how are you doing? What are you doing? Because I care about you. The Lord says, I want to help you in any way. Because I love you.
18:32What the Lord feels about His creation
You notice that? The same ideas that people have to communicate and connect with those that they love. That's exactly what the Lord feels about His creation.
18:46Why we broadcast 24/7
One of the reasons why we broadcast constantly on Rumble, Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube is to let people know how much the Lord loves them. And we have available TV apps for smart TVs, as you can see here on the screen. And precisely for that reason is that we are constantly online. It's a radio station and a TV station running 24/7.
19:18Some humor: a sports reporter and a vegetable
One day someone told me, "Dr. Gian, you are on TV like the TV news people." And I said, "Well, not exactly. But tell me, what do you get if you cross a sports reporter with a vegetable? A common tater."
19:41You treat God the way you treat people
You know, my friend, you treat God the way you treat people. There are people around you that they are trying to connect with you, to hang out with you, to visit with you, to be friends with you. But unfortunately, you push them away and you think you are winning.
20:03Pushing people away
Listen, when it's about commerce, businesses, of course you will say, "I don't want to have anything to do with those companies." Even in terms of other activities, social engagements, you might say, you know, "This is not the type of music I like. This is not the type of shows that I like to watch." You just push them away.
20:31"This is not the type of preacher I like"
When it's about faith, you even might say, "This is not the type of preacher I like. You know, I like someone more serious with a suit and a tie, etc."
20:49A terrible mistake
You have the right to not like being with certain people. But the first thing is, you will make a terrible mistake if you are just trying to push away the Lord God. That will be a terrible mistake.
21:12Other people may like them
And on the other hand, even if you don't like much certain preachers or certain music, have you ever thought that maybe other people do like the preacher or that type of music?
21:30Christians who put others down
And here you see individuals that claim to be Christians, but they are so mean and even nasty criticizing and putting down certain people for whatever reason. You know, personally, I don't care for certain preachers or singers.
21:50Who I don't like
Do you want to know who I don't like? Well, I will start with, you know,
21:59My mentors, and respect for the rest
I have my favorites, of course. My mentors, I like to listen to them. There are great individuals delivering God's words, messages, books, songs. But if I don't appreciate certain preachers because of their content or style or whatever, I'm going to respect them, regardless.
22:27No insults, even for businesses
And when it's about business, if there is a company sending me text messages, newsletters, emails, whatever, I will not insult them or become aggravated with them. I just don't understand they are looking for business.
22:44The way you treat God is the way you treat people
Remember this, the way you treat God is the way you treat people and vice versa. The way that you treat people, that's the way that you treat God, my friend.
22:57Open your heart
That is why I invite you today to open your heart and let the power of the Holy Spirit come inside of you to change you. And you say, "Lord God, I do want to be part of your family in the name of Jesus."
23:14Some humor: self-centered
So the other day, I was talking with someone in a family that everybody tells me, "He is so selfish." Talk to him. Maybe he can understand what the problem might be in our relationship. So I go and I said, "Hey, how are you doing? Good. What do you want?" "Oh, just wanted to know some of them in your family, they feel that you are a little bit too into yourself." So he said, "Well, some people say I am self-centered, but that's enough about them." That's enough about him. Okay. Okay. Well, let me tell you something.
23:58An arrogant sponge
I once knew an arrogant sponge. He was very self-absorbed.
24:06Getting ahead of yourself
In another occasion, my friend, I was talking with a guy who he believes that one day he will be a very important person. So he asks a sculptor to carve his bust out of marble to put into a museum in the future. So the sculptor says, "Sir, I think you are getting ahead of yourself."
Transcribed from the video and lightly corrected. Spoken words are kept as Dr. Gian said them.
