About us

How it began.

Victory Church began in September 2016 when Dr. Gian C. Villatoro, his wife Tracy, and a small group of believers started meeting in a living room in Odessa, Texas. We gathered simply to pray, study the Bible, and seek the presence of the Lord.

What started with six people quickly grew. We rented a conference room at a local hotel and held our first official service on September 25, 2016. From the beginning, our desire has been the same: to exalt the name of the Lord Jesus, teach the truth of the Holy Bible, and see souls saved.

Today we continue that same mission. We are a loving church family that cares for one another, does life together, and is committed to making the Word of God practical for everyday life. Our pastor is available, and we welcome anyone who wants to know Jesus and grow in Him.

Our mission

Our commitment is to exalt the name of our Lord Jesus, to proclaim the greatness of the Kingdom of God, to teach the truth of the Holy Bible, to encourage believers to devote their lives to serve the Lord, and to provide tools for leaders to develop mission fields and eventually become organized churches—all with the intention of saving souls.

Statement of faith

What we believe.

  1. We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for faith and life.
  2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and will return again.
  4. We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
  5. We believe in the necessity of the new birth by the Holy Spirit, the ongoing work of sanctification, and the future resurrection of the dead.
  6. We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, make disciples, and proclaim the gospel to the world.

Raising leaders · Planting churches

Victory University

Victory University exists to equip believers with the knowledge, character, and practical tools needed to serve the Lord faithfully. We desire to raise leaders who can preach the Word, care for people, plant churches, and expand the Kingdom of God.

Our goal is not to centralize knowledge, but to multiply it. Through biblical teaching, mentorship, and hands-on ministry training, we prepare men and women to establish and lead healthy, soul-winning churches in Odessa and beyond.

  • Great musician and Godly man

I have known Gian for a decades. He met my dad, who loved music and singing, during my college years and became like a second son to him. He would visit often and play the piano while he and my dad (and sometimes I) would sing--everything from Broadway musical classics like "The Impossible Dream" to traditional hymns. Gian is an amazing musician and talented speaker/teacher, but most importantly, a Godly man. I'm very glad to know him as a friend.

  • Being uplifted by the message and of course the uplifting music

I can’t not speak for everyone but I struggle with my walk and I know that I not meant to walk alone. I need fellowship whether it be music or the message through the word of God. I struggle and sometimes I believe that I can do it myself, because I begin to believe that God is tired of me failing with the same issues. I met Gian years ago and he has always been a great person to talk to. He is a great leader in the word but, above all wonderful friend. His message and in the daily scriptures chosen seem to be speaking to me. I am great full for everything. They are times where I have long drives for work and listen to the music and it keeps me exactly wheee I need to be.

My family has been following Gian since 2025 and have laughed, been impressed, and always look forward to his next "newest" episode of Praise, fun and / or mini movie-mode type of entertainment.

We've also followed his church sermons for several years. He is enthusiastic and has theologically sound doctrine. We recommend his website to anyone who likes originality style presentations.
