What money does to a person without God, the manna and the quail in the Wilderness of Sin, and the Promised Land where you are fully satisfied
“Greed can drive people in such a destructive direction that they completely lose touch with the reality of life and become difficult to deal with.”
Do you think it’s possible to walk that path without even realizing it?
Real presence, honesty and connection
Would you feel uncomfortable if any of your close friends by your side were broke? Someone said to me, “I want a friend who is simply there, consistently, without conditions.” These are very powerful words.
“What I actually value is real presence, honesty and connection.”
A friend who is simply there, consistently, without conditions, is more rare and far more meaningful.
“We know that most everything is temporary. Character and presence are not.”
What happens to a person without God?
With money, people buy things, and more things, and more things. And sadly, they tend to forget God, their parents and their purpose in life. Some people with money think they will live like that forever. Some think they will control everything all the time.
“Some people think that with money, they will never stop having fun.”
They forget God first, then their parents and the important people in their lives.
“The big risk is to walk totally away from godliness, faith, and devotion, and they get into superficial relationships.”
Ungodly people become emptier and emptier, until one day they can’t stand it anymore. Emptiness moves people to cruelty, punishing others and attacking everyone without justification. They become really cold-hearted, skeptical, without any faith, without fear of God and without fear of death. Imagine that.
Where is the joy? What happened with the stuff? In all this, where is God in their lives?
Exodus 16: the Wilderness of Sin
Chapter 16 of the book of Exodus tells us very interesting things. The whole congregation of Israel came to the Wilderness of Sin, before Sinai, on the 15th day of the second month after leaving Egypt (Exodus 16:1). And all the Israelites began complaining. Again.
“It would have been better if the Lord had just killed us in the land of Egypt.”
“Out there, we have food. We have nothing here in the desert” (Exodus 16:2-3).
The Wilderness of Sin is a real desert stretch on the way to Mount Sinai. The name is geographical, possibly connected to an ancient place name or to the moon god Sin worshiped in that region.
The manna
“Manna was like a small white coriander seeds and tasted like thin cakes made with honey.”
God instructed Moses and Aaron to place a jar of manna inside the ark of the covenant. The people ate the manna for 40 years, until they reached the edge of Canaan, the Promised Land (Exodus 16:31-35). Coriander seeds are highly nutritional, and coriander is the plant you know as cilantro. Some people love cilantro. Not many.
“Manna actually is the provision of God.”
In these days, ministries like ours operate through the contributions of faithful followers. And someone told me recently that he calls TV viewers who never give “lobsters.” Why? “Because they are shellfish.” I think it’s cute.
Would you push for more?
Back to the story. In Exodus 17:7 the people of Israel pushed for water, and the Lord gave them water. But deep down, they wanted to know if the Lord was with them or not.
“This is very interesting because it’s possible that sometimes you ask God for things like if you don’t remember how much He loves you and provides for you.”
Would you push for more? And be ungrateful? You don’t want that, my friend.
Then they pushed for meat. The Lord sent a strong wind that blew quail in from the sea until the camp was completely surrounded with birds, about three feet high, for many miles in every direction. The people picked up quail for two days. But before the meat could be eaten, the Lord became angry and sent a deadly disease through the camp, and they buried the people who had been so greedy for meat (Numbers 11:31-34). Sad story.
When enough is never enough
“But for some people, enough is never enough.”
And then is when they struggle, and terrible things happen. Think of David. He had a wife, but it was not enough for him. That’s a problem.
“When enough is never enough, bad things happen.”
“Without the knowledge of the Scripture, we can go in the wrong direction, my friend.”
“When enough is never enough, two things happen. Either you work harder and manage better, or you keep expecting someone else to fix your problems out of a sense of entitlement.”
And you don’t want that.
The provision of God
“Do you realize that manna is the magnificent power of God to provide for his people?”
How many times have you experienced that provision of God? And provision is not just about money or material things.
“It’s the provision of his presence, the provision of health, the provision of friends.”
More than just quail
“My friend, the Promised Land was more than just quail.”
The true meaning is spiritual. Materialistic people will never understand it. They just care for material things.
“The Promised Land is a place where you are fully satisfied with the presence of God in your life.”
Then He will lead you to do what is right, learning God’s word. You know John 3:16: the Lord God loved the world so much that He sent His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Welcome to the family of God, my friend.
One last smile
Why don’t wasps ever want to spend any money? Because they are stingy. And what is the classic quote of a greedy person? “The pleasure is all mine.”
A kid asked his greedy father for money to buy a police costume for Halloween. The father said, “Just go undercover.”
So, my friend. What are you thirsty for today?

What happens to a person without God when money comes in?
Dr. Gian says that with money, people buy things and more things, and sadly they tend to forget God, their parents and their purpose in life. "The big risk is to walk totally away from godliness, faith, and devotion", and ungodly people become emptier and emptier until they can't stand it anymore.
Where is the Wilderness of Sin?
Exodus 16:1 places Israel there on the 15th day of the second month after leaving Egypt. It is a real desert stretch on the way to Mount Sinai, where the manna was given. The name is geographical, possibly linked to an ancient place name or to the moon god Sin worshiped in the region; it has nothing to do with the English word sin.
What was manna?
"Manna was like a small white coriander seeds and tasted like thin cakes made with honey." Israel ate it for 40 years until they reached the edge of Canaan, and a jar of it was kept in the ark of the covenant. Dr. Gian calls it the provision of God: "the magnificent power of God to provide for his people."
What happens when enough is never enough?
"When enough is never enough, bad things happen." Two things follow: "Either you work harder and manage better, or you keep expecting someone else to fix your problems out of a sense of entitlement." Israel pushed for meat, the quail came, and the people who were so greedy for meat died in the plague (Numbers 11:31-34).
What is the Promised Land really about?
"The Promised Land was more than just quail." Its true meaning is spiritual: "The Promised Land is a place where you are fully satisfied with the presence of God in your life." God's provision is also more than money: His presence, health and friends.

03:49Exodus 16: the Wilderness of Sin
The chapter 16 of the book of Exodus tells us very interesting things. Verse number 1 describes that the whole congregation of Israelites, they came to a wilderness called the Wilderness of Sin, which is before Sinai. And that happened on the second month and the 15th day, after they departing out of the land of Egypt.
04:14Complaining again
The verses 2 and 3 tells that all the Israelites began complaining. And they were complaining again. And you know what they were saying? It would have been better if the Lord had just killed us in the land of Egypt. Verses 2 and 3, the first section of the verse. Really, the second part of the verse 3 tells us that they say, "Out there, we have food. We have nothing here in the desert." The chapter 16 of Exodus
04:50The manna
tells us many things. One of those things that is impressive is about the manna. Manna was like a small white coriander seeds and tasted like thin cakes made with honey.
05:04The jar in the ark
God instructed Moses and Aaron to place that jar of manna inside the ark of the covenant. The people ate the manna for 40 years until they reached the edge of the land of Canaan, which is considered the promised

land. Coriander seeds are highly nutritional. Here you can see the nutritional values of that particular seed. You can do a screenshot or simply research it yourself. Did you know that coriander seeds actually is cilantro? Some people love cilantro, not many.
05:40Something like a pancake
Manna actually was something similar to a pancake. Imagine that.
05:46An Italian painting
In fact, there is an Italian painter that, as you can see here on the screen, he created this beautiful image of the Israelite eating the manna. This painting actually is in the National Gallery of London. As you can see here on the screen,
06:04Coriander around the world
there are countries that they use coriander seeds in the preparation of their meals. And in fact, there is one that I am so curious to try to make it. It's called the afelia, Cypriot pork. Maybe I will try it one day.
06:20On the way to Mount Sinai
Or you. The Wilderness of Sin is a real desert stretch on the way to Mount Sinai, where one of the most famous miracles of Exodus took place, the giving manna. Can you imagine that experience, my friend?
06:35Why it's called Sin
Now, the word Sin is a geographical name, possibly connected to an ancient place name or to the moon god Sin worshiped in the region in earlier times.
06:50Manna is the provision of God
Manna actually is the provision of God. In these days, ministries like ours, we can operate through the contributions of faithful followers. Here's the URL if you want to help us in that. We are broadcasting 24-7 through many apps and platforms, as you can see here, QR codes and logos of the different platforms.
07:13“Lobsters”
And that reminds me what someone said to me recently. He said that he is calling TV viewers "lobsters." And I said, "Lobsters? Why you are saying that?" And he said, "Because they are greedy. They never give money to anyone. They are shellfish." I think it's cute.
07:36Exodus 17: pushing for water
Back to the story. Exodus 17, verse 7, section B, says that the people of Israel pushed now for water. The Lord gave them water. But deep down, they wanted to know if the Lord was with them or not. This is very interesting
07:55Would you push for more?
because it's possible that sometimes you ask God for things like if you don't remember how much He loves you and provides for you. Would you push for more? And you are ungrateful. God will be angry. And you
08:11Pushing for meat: the quail
don't want that, my friend. The book of Numbers, chapter 13, tells us from the verse 31 through 34, the saddest story of what happens when they were pushing and pushing now for meat. The narration tells us that the Lord sent a strong wind that blew quails in from the sea until Israel's camp was completely surrounded with birds, piled up about a height of three feet. This is more or less like this, near one meter, for many miles in every direction. Can you imagine
08:51Ten baskets each
that? The people picked up quails for two days. Imagine each person filled at least ten large baskets. Then they spread them out to dry. But
09:04A sad story
before the meat could be eaten, the Lord became angry and sent a deadly disease through the camp after they had buried the people who had been so greedy for meat. Sad story.
09:18When enough is enough
When enough is enough, my friend. But for some people, enough is never enough. And then is when they struggle and they have terrible
09:31Study the Scripture
things. Precisely for that reason is that we need to study the Scripture and understand the principles. So, for example, here you see on the screen three different messages. The Killing Nap, for example, you see as well, Unsubscribe Me and Social Exclusion. Those are teachings that I shared recently here for you all.
09:55The Killing Nap
You know what is interesting? The Killing Nap is a message of what happened to David when he was so satisfied. He had a wife, but it was not enough for him. That's a problem. When enough is never enough, bad things happen.
10:15Unsubscribe Me
Unsubscribe Me is another powerful teaching that talks about individuals that they feel self-sufficient, that they don't need anybody, they don't want to talk to anybody. And
10:25Social Exclusion
Social Exclusion is another important teaching. This one is mainly oriented to people to not push trying getting into cliques. Because most of the time those cliques are interested mainly in money.
10:44The wrong direction
Without the knowledge of the Scripture, we can go in the wrong direction, my friend. And that is what I'm
10:51Two things happen
saying. When enough is never enough, two things happen. Either you work harder and manage better, or you keep expecting someone else to fix your problems out of a sense of entitlement. And you don't want that.
11:09The magnificent power of God to provide
Do you realize that manna is the magnificent power of God to provide for his people? How many times we have experienced that provision of God? How many times you have experienced that provision of God? And you know
11:25More than money
that provision is not just about money or material things. It's the provision of his presence, the provision of health, the provision of friends.
11:36More than just quail
My friend, the Promised Land was more than just quail. Because the true meaning is spiritual meaning. Materialistic people will never understand it. They just care for material things.
11:52Fully satisfied with God's presence
The Promised Land is a place where you are fully satisfied with the presence of God in your life. And then he will lead you to do what is right, learning God's word.
12:06John 3:16
You might heard before John 3:16. It is the classic Bible verse that tells us that the Lord God loved so much the world that he sent his only begotten son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
12:28Welcome to the family of God
Welcome to the family of God, my friend. Remember that we are here, happy to see you. Until next time.
12:38A little humor
Hey, what did the greedy foreigner who lives in Utah say? Mormon? Next question. Why don't wasps ever want to spend any money? It's because they are stingy. Stingy. What is the classic quote of a greedy person? The pleasure is all mine. A kid asked his greedy father for money to buy a police costume for Halloween. The father said to him, "Just go undercover." Well, let me close with this. A stingy guy goes to the registry office and asks how he can change his name. The civil servant asked him why he needs the name to be changed. His answer was, "I found a box full of business cards in the street yesterday."
Transcribed from the video and lightly corrected. Spoken words are kept as Dr. Gian said them.
