What you watch leads your life, and why Bible verses will stop you anytime
Hello, my dear friend. The topic of today is good eyes or bad eyes. There are two sections in the Bible that talk about it, Matthew 6:22-23 and Luke 11:34-36. Today we read Luke.
“The only source of light for the body is the eye. When you look at people and want to help them, you are full of light. But when you look at people in a selfish way, you are full of darkness. So be careful! Don’t let the light in you become darkness. If you are full of light, and there is no part of you that is dark, then you will be all bright, as though you have the light of a lamp shining on you.”
Do you remember last week? We spoke about how you can shine for the glory of God. Today the Scripture is talking about the power of your eyes. So you will hear again something that you already know.
“Your eyes will lead your life and outcome.”
What do you look at?
What is it that you watch on your device? TV, phone, computer, in person? What is that thing you are targeting with your eyes all the time?
Whatever it is, you know very well that not everything is good for you. Correct?
Sometimes you can be watching bad stuff and fooling yourself. “It’s not a big deal. I’m not going to those places. I just want to enjoy what I am watching. After all, nobody is here.”
But you are just fooling yourself. Number one, the Lord God knows what you are looking at. And the other issue is that watching can become an addiction. And you know it.
“How bad is it to watch this?”
Quite often I receive phone calls and emails with this question. How bad is it to watch this and that?
For everybody, it’s all relative. Most of what is on TV these days is pretty bad: the language, the violence, the sexual scenes. On the other hand, some clean shows are so predictable that you can hear the next line. Classic churchy language. That is why regular people don’t watch them much.
I’m not saying you have to go to what is wrong. But remember the principle.
“Whatever you are watching, your eyes are going to lead you to what is right or what is wrong, and it can become an addiction.”
So when people ask me how bad it could be, I ask them, “Well, how often do you watch that?” Most of the time, that is the origin of the question. They are watching those things constantly.
The issue is inside
People might say, “TV is pretty bad. Music is pretty bad. The Internet is pretty bad.” I know, it’s the world.
“The issue really is inside, and that is our job, and that is your job today.”
Think about what you have been watching lately on your phone, on your TV, on your computer. And when you are out with people, what do you like to see?
Straight lines, not curves
One of my mentors gave me a phenomenal idea. He was a pastor who never had issues with women at all, so he had the authority to tell me. Guys, pay attention.
He said, when you are around people and you see something sensual, look around and find something straight. A wall, a post, a sign. I thought he was messing with me. He said, “I’m not kidding.” And I thought, “Well, that is fantastic.”
With the years I realized it works differently for different people. Some are more drawn by what they see. Others, by what they hear. So here is the real question.
“You are looking for entertainment when you are watching, right?”
Is it truly entertainment, or is it lust? You need to think about this.
Bible verses will stop you
So I explored more. Why do we humans tend to fail rather than be strong? And I discovered this.
“Bible verses will stop you anytime.”
Put a Bible verse in the background of your phone, so when you turn it on, it reminds you that the Lord God is watching you. If you struggle with hours of TV, put a verse close to your TV. “The Lord sees everything in your life.” Anything biblical. This is God’s Word.
If you don’t want to stop
Now let me repeat this to you.
“If you don’t want to stop, the Lord God is not going to stop you.”
Maybe you have no issue with devices. But you are daydreaming, having conversations and thoughts leading to something that is wrong, and you know it. The Lord God is not going to stop you.
Read Romans chapter 1, verses 21 through 32. The Lord tried to stop them. Your family, everybody, everything was telling you stop. But verse 28 is pretty strong: since these people refused even to think about God, He let their useless minds rule over them. That’s why they do all sorts of indecent things.
Whatever is in your head, whatever is in your heart, you will figure out a way to watch it and to do it. Do you want the outcome that path will bring to your life? I don’t think so.
Honest, then humble
“First of all, we need to be honest with ourselves.”
In fact, I believe you are honest with yourself. How do I know that? If you were not, you would have quit this study already. But you are here.
So you honestly say to yourself, “Enough is enough.” Then you are humble, and you ask the Lord God, “Please forgive me. I don’t want to go in that pattern.”
Remember the classic verse, John 3:16. The Lord God loved you so much that He sent Jesus, our Lord, to die for you. I hope the Holy Spirit is working in your heart today, and you say, “In the name of Jesus, I’m done with this.”
One last smile
Why did the TV addict break up with his partner? Because the partner couldn’t watch TV all night long.
Later I asked him, “So you really have issues with TV?” He said, “No, I’m not addicted to TV. You can stop me anytime. Just let me watch this next episode.”
So, my friend. What will you put in front of your eyes this week?

Questions this study answers
Questions & answers.
What does Jesus mean by good eyes and bad eyes in Luke 11:34-36?
"The only source of light for the body is the eye." When you look at people and want to help them, you are full of light; when you look at people in a selfish way, you are full of darkness. Dr. Gian sums it up: "Your eyes will lead your life and outcome." Matthew 6:22-23 gives the same teaching.
Is it bad to watch shows and movies with bad content?
When people ask Dr. Gian how bad it could be, he answers with a question: "Well, how often do you watch that?" Not everything you watch is good for you. "Whatever you are watching, your eyes are going to lead you to what is right or what is wrong, and it can become an addiction."
How do you stop looking at what you shouldn't?
A mentor taught Dr. Gian to look for straight lines (a wall, a post, a sign) instead of the curves, and it changes the mood. Over the years he found something stronger: "Bible verses will stop you anytime." Put a verse on your phone's background or near your TV that reminds you the Lord God is watching.
Will God stop you if you keep doing what is wrong?
"If you don't want to stop, the Lord God is not going to stop you." Dr. Gian points to Romans 1:21-32 and verse 28: since these people refused even to think about God, He let their useless minds rule over them.
What is the first step to change what you watch?
"First of all, we need to be honest with ourselves." Then be humble and ask the Lord God, "Please forgive me." Remember John 3:16: the Lord God loved you so much that He sent Jesus, our Lord, to die for you.

00:00Intro
Hello my dear friend, welcome to our episode 203. Today, September 30th, 2026, the topic of today is good eyes or bad eyes. There are two sections on the Bible that they talk about it. We are going to choose the one and look today and we read in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Please Lord, guide us through this study. Thank you Jeho for the scripture on the screen and we read.
00:34Luke 11:34-36
Luke 11:34 through 36. The only source of light for the body is the eye. When you look at people and want to help them, you are full of light. But when you look at people in a selfish way, you are full of darkness. So be careful. Don't let the light in you become darkness. If you are full of light and there is no part of you that is dark, then you will be all bright. As though you have the light of a lamp shining on you.
01:11Last week: shine for the glory of God
Do you remember last week we spoke about this, how you can shine for the glory of God? That's why we say when you are praising people, actually you are praising God because you are not going to praise anybody. You always are going to say good job to anybody that is doing what is right.
01:31Your eyes will lead your life
Now, today the scripture is talking about the power of your eyes. So you will hear again something that you already know. Your eyes will lead your life and outcome. You know that is possible. Now,
01:52What do you look at?
what is what you look at? What is what you watch on your device? TV, phone, computer, in person? What is that thing that you are targeting with your eyes, watching all the time? Well, whatever the thing is, whatever you like. But you know very well that not everything is good for you. Correct? Not everything that you are watching, my friend, is a good thing. You know, sometimes actually you can be watching at bad stuff and you just fooling yourself saying, "It's not a big deal. I'm not going to those places. I'm not doing those things. I just want to enjoy with my own eyes what I am watching." After all, nobody is here. You know?
02:51You are just fooling yourself
But you are just fooling yourself because you know, number one, that the Lord God knows what you are watching, what you are looking at. And the other issue is watching can become an addiction. And you know it.
03:07"How bad is it to watch this?"
Quite often I receive phone calls and sometimes emails. People messaging me this question, "How bad is to watch this and that?" You know, for everybody, it's all relative. Because in these days, whatever you are watching on TV, for example, movies, first of all, the language, second violence, sexual scenes, the topic, how those guys interact in the movie or the show, what can be really clean? Not much. Most of the stuff right now is pretty bad.
03:57Clean shows and boring shows
But on the other hand, you know that there are some clean shows and clean movies that they call them, particular companies producing those videos, movies and shows. They are so, at some point, predictable. You know? You always even can hear what's the next line. You know, it is like the classic religious churchy language that you see everywhere whenever you go to church. They are classic lines. And that is why regular people are not too much into watching those type of movies or shows. I'm not saying you have to go to what is wrong. I'm just making a clear statement of if the show or the movie is boring, you probably will not continue watching the rest of the story. So there has to be something interesting about it, correct? But remember, the principle is this. Whatever you are watching, your eyes are going to lead you to what is right or what is wrong, and it can become an addiction.
05:15How often do you watch it?
So when people ask me the question, "How bad it could be?" The question that I ask is, "Well, how often do you watch that?" And most of the time, what is happening, and that is the source of the question, the origin of the question is precisely that they are watching constantly those type of things. So
05:42The issue is inside
remember this. The issue, my friend, it's not outside. The issues that you and I and everybody else on this planet, the issue in us, it's not outside. People might say, "TV is pretty bad. Music is pretty bad. This Internet is pretty bad," etc. But it is really the problem that is there. I know it's the world. The issue really is inside, and that is our job, and that is your job today. I want you to think about what are the things that you have been watching lately on your phone, on your TV, on your computer. And when you are outside dealing with people, what is what you like to see?
06:39Straight lines, not curves
I remember that one of my mentors one day told me this phenomenal idea, and I will suggest you to apply the same thing. This was the advice of a pastor that never had issues, never related with women at all. So he had the experience to tell me, "Do you want to be a good boy? This is the way to do it." So are you ready? If you are a guy, pay attention to this, especially with guys. This is more effective. But he said to me, "Always, always, in person, particularly in person, when you are around people, women look for straight lines rather than look at the curves." When he told me that, I thought that he was just messing with me. And I said, "Come on, get serious." And he says, "I'm not kidding. If you look at the straight lines, psychologically, it's going to make you feel different if you are looking at the curves that you see out there." He said to me, "You know, I am a guy like you are a guy. I'm attracted to women because I am a regular man, like anybody else. But I have developed this instinct," he said, "and that is what he was advising me, and I advise you. I'm just passing the advice to you." When you see women that can be, let's say, sexually attractive, sensual stuff, he said, "Look around and find something that is straight, like a wall, for example, a post, a sign, anything that is straight." He said to me, "Immediately, in your mind, it's going to change the mood." And I thought, "Well, that is fantastic."
08:44What men see, what women hear
Now, with the past of the years, I realized that it was different for certain guys and others because some are more attractive to what they see. And, you know, as you know, women are more attractive to what they hear. So, thinking about it, processing all this, I realized that actually what will stop any wrong desires, because the issue
09:11Entertainment or lust?
is this. You are looking for entertainment when you are watching, right? But it's truly entertainment or it's lust. You need to think about this. It's truly entertainment, what you are looking for or it's lust. Because if it's lust, we have a problem used to do. So, I decided to explore more into this, what is the cause and why we humans tend to fail rather than being strong.
09:45Bible verses will stop you
I discovered that Bible verses will stop you anytime. Bible verses. In fact, if you have on your device the opportunity to put a particular picture in the background, or, you know, when you start your phone, for example, you can put some Bible verse there that will remind you that the Lord God is watching you. Bible verses, this is God's Word. If you have a Bible verse, imagine if you have an issue watching TV for many hours and they are just exploring bad things for whatever reason, or even without exploring, simply they pop up, right, on your newsfeed and whatever platform you are watching. Imagine if you have a Bible verse close to your TV that says, "The Lord sees everything in your life," or, "God will reward you for the good actions." Anything that is biblical, Bible verses will stop you anytime. Now,
11:03If you don't want to stop
if you don't want to stop, the Lord God is not going to stop you. Let me repeat that to you. If you don't want to stop, the Lord God is not going to stop you. So let's say you have no issue with devices. All right. But you are just daydreaming or actually having conversations and thoughts and actions leading to something that is wrong, and you know it, but you don't want to stop. The Lord God is not going to stop you. It's actually the opposite.
11:43Romans 1:21-32
When you read the Scripture and you particularly explore Romans chapter 1 verses 21 through 32, you will discover the origin of sexual perversion in those verses, chapter 1 of Romans verses 21 through 32. The Lord didn't stop them. The Lord said, "Okay, you know what is the right thing to do, but you don't want to do it. Go ahead. You want to be a pervert? You want to be into perversion? Go ahead." People think, well, they are just evil people. Well, somehow they are. But what about those who were not like that and they decided to start going in that direction? The Lord tried to stop them. Your family, everybody, everything was telling you stop, stop. But if you want to go in that direction, the Lord is not going to stop you, my friend. He's not going to do it.
12:50Romans 1:28
In fact, verse 28 of Romans 1 is pretty strong. And that's why I am asking Jeho, please put this verse here on the screen. Read it with me. Since these people refuse even to think about God, He let their useless minds rule over them. That's why they do all sorts of indecent things.
13:15Whatever is in your heart
That is the origin of perversion. And whatever is in your head, whatever is in your heart, you are wishing those things. You will figure out the way to watch it, to go, to listen, to hear, to talk, and to do what is wrong. Do you want the outcome that that path will bring to your life? I don't think so. So what is what we do?
13:47Be honest with yourself
First of all, we need to be honest with ourselves. Honesty is the key on this, my friend. If you don't want to be honest, well, I think you want to be honest. In fact, I believe that you are absolutely honest with yourself at this point. How do I know that? Because if you were not honest, you will not be here with me at this point in this study. You already quit. But if you are here and you are, it's because you are honest. And honestly, when you think about this and you analyze and you realize the damage that bad choices, watching on devices, TV, phones, or poor choices about the topics you want to talk about and things that you want to see in real life, in places. You honestly will say to yourself, "Enough is enough." Because the punishment from God could be forever. And you don't want that, my friend. You don't want that. That's why you are honest initially. And then after that,
15:07Be humble and ask forgiveness
you are humble and you ask the Lord God, "Please forgive me. I don't want to go in that pattern." And that's why you have to remember the beauty of the scripture.
15:21John 3:16
The classic verse, John 3, 16, because the Lord God loved so much you. He sent Jesus, our Lord, to die for you. And I hope that today the Holy Spirit is working in your heart and you say, "I decide right now in the name of Jesus to please my Lord God's Father with the power of the Holy Spirit, I'm done with this." That's great. Now,
15:51A little humor
can I share with you a little humor? Here we go. Why did the TV addict break up with his partner? Because the partner couldn't watch TV all night long. The partner couldn't watch TV all night long? Well, that's an addiction. Well, later I spoke with this guy and I said, "So you really have issues with TV?" And he says, "No, I'm not addicted to TV. You can stop me anytime. Just let me watch this next episode."
