Why there is no neutral ground with Jesus, why believers work for the kingdom of God, and why being with Him means living in the light

Dr. Gian C. VillatoroAugust 26, 20269 min study

Hello, dear friend. Welcome to episode 198. The topic of today: “Are you against me?” We are closing this section today. Thank you, Jeho, for the scripture on the screen, Matthew 12:30:

“Whoever is not with me is against me.”

And anyone who does not work with Me is working against Me.

Last week we talked about the meaning of a strong man. Today you will learn whether you are or not against the Lord Jesus. Are you with Jesus, or are you against Jesus? What’s your case?

“I’m neutral”

Some people say, “I’m neutral.” I have heard people say, “I like Jesus’ teachings.” In other words, they approve the Lord. They approve the Lord? Really?

“You are approving God, the Lord God Almighty? That’s wrong.”

It’s very simple. The Lord Jesus is saying, “I need definition.”

“Are you with me or are you against me? There are no points in between.”

In these days, hypocrisy, dishonesty and lies are pretty common.

“The issue is with the Lord God, you cannot do that.”

Not for a church, for the kingdom of God

Somebody asked me one day, “Well, you are the pastor. I’m just a believer. Why suddenly do I have to work for the church?” The problem is that people don’t understand.

“What we do, believers, is for the Kingdom of God.”

The kingdom of God is here, the Lord Jesus said. The Holy Spirit has come to move us to change: repent, get baptized, learn the teachings. Me and my team produce Bible lessons and music all the time.

“What we want is for somebody to hear the great news that there is hope in the name of Jesus.”

“Reaching out is the job of a believer, sharing with people the good news about Jesus.”

So again, are you working with Jesus, or against Jesus? Some people who claim to be believers are the worst people to cooperate with a church. They are working against Jesus. That’s a big mistake, my friend.

Darkness or light

“Not being with Jesus means that you are in the darkness. Being with Jesus means that you are in the light. Your life shows that.”

If you are not with the Lord Jesus, you are not going to promote the truth, love, eternity, the Bible, the church, the power of the Holy Spirit. You are not going to talk about repentance.

“Being with the Lord Jesus is about living in the light, meaning speaking the truth, loving people, working honestly. It’s all about your character, my friend.”

It’s not about going somewhere on Sunday for an hour or two and using the proper Christian language.

“Being with the Lord Jesus means inside of you there is light.”

Being with Jesus means working

“But the truth is being with the Lord Jesus means working.”

Not working, in general, is diabolic. Literally. You cannot be sitting there watching TV the whole day. It’s going to hurt you more than you can imagine.

“But working against Jesus is a death sentence.”

Anybody working against the kingdom of God, against the preaching of the Gospel, against the church of our Lord Jesus Christ: that is a death sentence. You don’t want that.

“What you need is to change.”

“Are you with Me,” He says, “or are you against Me?” Make that decision right now. Say, “I’m sorry, Lord. I’m not going to do that again.”

And if you are lazy, think about it, because even your own body is going to resent your laziness. Get up, do something. Take a shower, cook a meal, help somebody.

“Working against Jesus is a death sentence. Being with Jesus means working.”

Get busy, my friend.

One last smile

I told my co-worker that I’d be more productive if I had a standing desk. He said, “You’d just stand around doing nothing instead of sitting around doing nothing.”

And you, my friend, are you with Him?

Share this with someone who needs clarity.

Questions this study answers

Questions & answers.

What does "whoever is not with me is against me" mean?

Matthew 12:30: "Whoever is not with me is against me. And anyone who does not work with me is working against me." Dr. Gian: the Lord Jesus is asking for a definition. "Are you with me or are you against me? There are no points in between."

Can someone be neutral about Jesus?

Some people say, "I'm neutral," or "I like Jesus' teachings," as if they approve the Lord. "You are approving God, the Lord God Almighty? That's wrong." With Him there is no middle ground.

Why should a believer work for the church?

"What we do, believers, is for the Kingdom of God," not for one church. "Reaching out is the job of a believer, sharing with people the good news about Jesus."

What does it mean to be with Jesus?

"Being with the Lord Jesus is about living in the light, meaning speaking the truth, loving people, working honestly. It's all about your character, my friend." It is not an hour on Sunday; it is light inside of you.

Why is not working "diabolic"?

"Being with the Lord Jesus means working." Not working, in general, is diabolic, and working against Jesus is a death sentence. Get up and do something: help somebody, and at least say one prayer to God to give thanks.

00:00Episode 198: Are you against me?

Hello dear friend, welcome to our episode 198 today, August 26, 2026. The topic of today is, "Are you against me?"

00:11Prayer

We are closing today this section and we read in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Please, Lord, guide us through this study. And we read. Thank you, Jeho, for the scripture on the screen.

00:25The reading: Matthew 12:30

Matthew 12:30, "Whoever is not with me is against me." And anyone who does not work with me is working against me.

00:36Last week, and today

Last week, we talked about the meaning of a strong man. Today you will learn about whether you are or not against the Lord Jesus. Are you with Jesus or are you against Jesus? What's your case?

00:57“I'm neutral”

Some people say, "I'm neutral." You know, I have heard people saying, "I like Jesus' teachings. I like Jesus' teachings."

01:09Approving the Lord?

In other words, they approve the Lord. They approve the Lord? Really? You've got to be kidding me. You are approving God, the Lord God Almighty? That's wrong. But it's very simple. But the Lord Jesus is saying here is, "I need definition."

01:26No points in between

Are you with me or are you against me? There are no points in between.

01:33Hypocrisy, dishonesty, lies

The problem with people is that in these days, particularly, hypocrisy, dishonesty, lies are pretty common.

01:45You cannot do that with God

The issue is with the Lord God, you cannot do that. Try it and you will see what happens to you.

01:54Working with Jesus, or against Him?

That's why He was asking, "Are you working with me? Are you working with Jesus or are you working against Jesus?"

02:03“I'm just a believer”

So somebody asked me that question one day. "Well, you are the pastor. I'm just a believer. Why suddenly I have to work for the church?"

02:16Not for a church, for the kingdom of God

Well, the problem is people don't understand that actually what we do is not for a church. What we do, believers, is for the Kingdom of God. "The Kingdom of God is here, is near you," the Lord Jesus said. "Where is in your heart?"

02:42Repent and change

Because the Holy Spirit has come to move us for a change, repent and change. Get baptized, learn the teachings. That's what it's all about, the Kingdom of God. When we are working, for example, now,

03:01Lessons for you

me and my team, we are working providing this particular lesson to you. It's a Bible lesson. But at the same time, there are thousands of lessons that we have done and we keep producing music and Bible teachings all the time

03:23Hope in the name of Jesus

because we want to exalt the name of Jesus. What we want is for somebody to hear the great news that there is hope in the name of Jesus.

03:34The work of the believer

This is the work of the believer, the work of a church. A church as an entity is organized to provide this type of materials for the followers, whether they are members of a church or not.

03:49Reaching out

Reaching out is the job of a believer, sharing with people the good news about Jesus. So, again, the question, are you working with Jesus or are you working against Jesus?

04:04Against the work of churches

It is interesting because some people, they claim to be believers, they are the worst people to cooperate with a church, regardless of what kind of church. And I'm talking about Christian churches, okay? The real deal. But some people are so against the work of churches for whatever reason. They are working against Jesus. That's a big mistake, my friend.

04:31Darkness or light

Not being with Jesus means that you are in the darkness. Being with Jesus means that you are in the light. Your life shows that. If you are not with Jesus, simply you are doing what is wrong. You are in the darkness. You are like evil things.

04:51Truth, love, repentance

If you are not with the Lord Jesus, you are not going to promote the truth, love, eternity, the Bible, church, the power of the Holy Spirit. You are not going to talk about repentance. If you are doing what is wrong, you have not been repented. You understand?

05:11Living in the light

Being with the Lord Jesus is about living in the light, meaning speaking the truth, loving people, working honestly. It's all about your character, my friend.

05:23More than one hour on Sunday

It's not about going to a place on Sunday and spend one hour or two with certain people and then you say the proper language, the Christian biblical language that everybody says in a church, "Get together or lunch."

05:41Light inside of you

Being with the Lord Jesus means inside of you there is light. That's what he is saying. "Are you with me? Are you working with me?" Well, you should show it with your life, with your character, and with your devotion to the Kingdom of God.

05:59Being with Jesus means working

But the truth is being with the Lord Jesus means working. You know, not working in general is diabolic. Literally. Literally.

06:11Not working is diabolic

Not working is diabolic. You have to do something, my friend. You cannot be sitting there watching TV the whole day. That's diabolic. It's going to hurt you more than you can even imagine.

06:26Working against Jesus is a death sentence

But working against Jesus is a death sentence. Anybody in the world that is working against the Kingdom of God, working against the Gospel, the preaching of the Gospel, anybody that is against the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, that is a death sentence. You don't want that.

06:54Make a decision

What you need is to change. "Are you with me?" he says, "Or you are against me." You need to make a decision. And make that decision right now. Say, "I'm sorry, Lord. I'm not going to do that again."

07:11Get up and do something

And if you are lazy and you don't want to do anything, you better think about it. Because even your own body is going to resent your laziness, my friend. So get up, do something, take a shower, cook a meal, help somebody. There has to be something that you can do for somebody.

07:31At least one prayer

There must be at least one prayer you can say to God to give thanks. Working against Jesus is a death sentence. Being with Jesus means working.

07:43A little humor

Get busy, my friend. So my co-worker said, "Let's have a quick call." And I said, "Really?" He said, "Yeah, it's going to be quick. It's going to be an intro, a recap, a discussion, and a sequel." Quick call? Duh. Speaking about co-workers, I told my co-workers... No, that's not it. It goes. Speaking about co-workers, I told my co-workers that I'll be... Speaking about co-workers, I told my co-worker that I'll be more productive if I had a standing desk. He said, "You just stand around doing nothing instead of sitting around doing nothing." I don't know if that makes sense, but regardless.
